FAQ: Meet The Adaptchula™ Spatula AND The Nottadrip™ Utensil Rest
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

I've never done Kickstarter, how does it work?

While most Kickstarter campaigns are raising funds from “Backers” in order to go manufacture their products or ideas, our campaign is different. We are already about complete with production and our rewards will be delivered much quicker than most campaigns. We used our own funds to develop and manufacture our goods. This means there is much less risk involved since the hard work is already done. In fact, the Nottadrips™ are already in our fulfillment center warehouse! So once you pick a rewards and back the project, you are basically pre-ordering. You will not be charged until the after the campaign is over. Once the campaign is over and your credit card is charged, you will receive a survey in your email to pick your colors and fill out your shipping information. You will also be able to add on extra items if you wish! Please note that the shipping charge will be implemented at the time of the survey completion, your current Pledge does not include shipping.

Will you have additional items for purchase in the survey?

Yes, you will be able to add on additional Adaptchulas™ and Nottadrips™. We will also have additional blades and prong utensil holders.

What is warranty on the products?

We are offering a Lifetime Warranty on the Nottadrips™. Through vigorous testing we feel that the Nottadrips™ will genuinely last 20 years or more with no issues if used everyday in the kitchen. Our family cooks an awful lot and after carefully choosing our production materials, we have all the confidence in the world. With that being said, we can’t offer this warranty if the product is misused or abused. Like anything that has a warranty, it would have to be from material failure under normal use. meaning, the product is cut with a knife, placed in a 1000 degree pizza oven etc. Once our website is launched we will have the warranty information and claim section for all of our backers that will include the details.

For the Adaptchula, there is no warranty. Obviously if there is just a blatant issue with the product and there was a manufacturing error, we are going to take care of you. But please do not think that we will accept an email 3 years from now stating something happened and that it was a manufacturers defect of some sort and expect us to ship you a new one. With that being said, we are a new brand and we want our Backers to be genuinely happy and we feel we put so much effort into the quality of these products that it will be nearly impossible for you to be disappointed!

What materials are the products made of?

Our Adaptchula™ has many different components and materials. Kickstarter is a place for innovation which means there are plenty of other companies and individuals looking to copy. We will not disclose all of our materials at this time. What we can tell you is that they are food safe and not made of toxic materials. Our blades are made of a PPSU, which I would suggest you do a google search on if you are unfamiliar. We did not choose this material for any other reason other than performance. In fact, the blades cost us more than the entire handle and stainless steel assembly which consists of 5 components to manufacture. We could have chose cheap plastic material or even silicone and had much larger profit margins. We are making these to last and to give the ultimate experience. The rest of the materials will be released at a later date, maybe on Amazon or our website once we are officially launched. Just know, it’s all food safe and non toxic. If you can’t support us for any allergy issues etc. we fully understand.

Our Nottadrips™ are made from a food and high temperature safe silicone. This product is fairly straight forward. Although the material is consistent through the entire product, the hardness of the material is what make the product work so great. We will not disclose this information just because we do not want to get copied.

Do you have a patent on these products?

Yes, we have several international, PCT and design patents filed and/or granted. Please do your due- diligence if you plan to copy us.

How much does shipping cost?

We will continue to update the shipping portion of our product page throughout our campaign. When you are running a Kickstarter campaign, there are many variable within the cost of shipping. We are using a fulfillment center and to give them the number of shipments and from what locations and what rewards is very difficult until we get closer to the end. It’s important for us to not give false information or lock anything in until we are confident of our situation. Let’s just say our shipping ends up costing an extra $3.50 from each shipment with 3,000 backers. This ends up costing us an unexpected $10k - This could easily cause major issues for us as a brand new business trying to launch and grow. Please see the shipping table in the campaign page.

What we can tell you is that we are going to do everything in our power to give you the best rates we can. We are here to build our business and make money on our products, not the shipping. As stated above, currently we are estimating the majority of the backers in the USA will pay between $8-13 USD, and the majority of the international backers will pay between $20-30 USD. From what we currently see with our shipping partner, for both Domestic and International shipments our 3 pack of Adaptchulas™ will cost the same as a single Adaptchula™ in regards to the shipping cost.

When is delivery of the products?

We are going to try our hardest to start shipping by the end of January. Kickstarter has a 2 week window for collecting and dispersing our funds but it seems as though 7-10 days is normal. We have the Nottadrips™ on hand in our fulfillment center and the Adaptchulas™ currently in final stage of production, meaning in the packaging process. With that said, it looks like the majority of the shipments will be starting in February. We will do absolutely everything we can to get the rewards out to our Backers as quickly as possible!

Are the products dishwasher safe?

Yes, both the Adaptchula™ and the Nottadrips™ are 100% dishwasher safe! You can literally toss both of the products in the dishwasher with no issues. The only thing of concern is geographical areas with hard water causing calcium and magnesium spots on the Nottadrip™ silicone serving stations. These spots will wash off by hand with soap and a scrubbing sponge.

Do I owe sales tax?

*If we meet the nexus sales tax threshold for your state, we will need to collect sales tax.

Once Backers have filled out their addresses and submitted their surveys we can then assess the number of backers and dollar amount per state which will determine whether nexus sales tax will need to be collected. If we need to collect, we will update you and let you know when the fees are added to your survey before we attempt to charge your card.

If you have any questions click the “need help” on your survey to get in touch with Support.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
